We, the members of Peoples Congregational United Church of Christ, are devastated by the news of the tragedy that occurred at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. We are deeply saddened and outraged by this premeditated act of violence on the innocent and unsuspecting members of this congregation who were gathered to worship, pray and study in sacred space.
We urge a full investigation of this matter and issue a call for swift justice even as we continue to pray unceasingly for the victims, their families and for the Church.
